Privacy Policy
Short version: the unit converter on UnitsConverter.top runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you type are never uploaded to our server. We do not require an account, and we do not sell or share your personal information.

1. Who we are
UnitsConverter.top ("we", "the site") is a free online tool collection operated as an independent project. You can reach us at any time at guichenli86@gmail.com. This policy explains what information the site handles, what it does not handle, and the rights you have under laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (CCPA).
2. Information we do NOT collect
- Your conversion inputs. Every calculation — the values, units and results — is computed locally on your device using JavaScript. These numbers are never transmitted to, stored on, or logged by our server.
- Account data. There is no registration, no login, and no user profile.
- Payment data. The tools are free; we never ask for card details.
- Precise location. We do not request GPS or precise geolocation.
3. Information processed automatically
3.1 Local storage on your device
For convenience, the converter keeps small preferences in your own browser's localStorage:
- your last used category, units and decimal precision;
- up to 5 recent conversions (only after you click "Copy result");
- your language choice, if you pick one manually.
This data never leaves your device. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
3.2 Server access logs
Like almost every website, our web server (Nginx) automatically records standard technical entries when a page is delivered: IP address, date and time, requested URL, HTTP status, referrer, and user-agent string. These logs are used solely for security monitoring, abuse prevention and aggregate traffic statistics, are not combined with other data sources, and are rotated automatically. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
3.3 Cookies
The core tool sets no tracking cookies. If we enable privacy-respecting analytics or advertising in the future, this section will be updated and, where required, a consent banner will be shown before any non-essential cookie is set.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
We may display ads served by Google AdSense or similar networks to keep the tools free. If enabled, these providers may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings and at aboutads.info/choices. Where the GDPR requires it, ads are only personalized after you give consent through a consent management prompt.
5. Your GDPR rights (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
Where the GDPR applies, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; rectify inaccurate data; erase your data ("right to be forgotten"); restrict or object to processing; data portability; and withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Because we hold no accounts and no conversion inputs, exercising these rights will usually concern server log entries only. To make a request, email guichenli86@gmail.com; we respond within 30 days.
6. Your CCPA/CPRA rights (California) — Do Not Sell or Share
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know what categories of personal information we collect, use, disclose, sell or share; request deletion of your personal information; correct inaccurate personal information; opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding 12 months. If this ever changes, this page will be updated before any such activity begins. To exercise any CCPA right, email guichenli86@gmail.com with the subject "CCPA request"; we will verify and respond within 45 days as the law requires. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof of authorization.
7. Data retention
Browser-local data stays until you delete it. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and statistics and are rotated regularly. We keep no other personal data, so there is nothing else to retain or delete.
8. Children's privacy
The site is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS only. Since conversion math happens on your device and we store no user content, the practical attack surface is minimal. We keep server software up to date and restrict administrative access.
10. International transfers
The site is hosted on a server that may be located outside your country. Because we collect almost no personal data, transfers are limited to the technical act of delivering web pages to your browser. Where the GDPR applies, you can request details via email.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Material changes will be highlighted for a reasonable period. Continued use of the site after a change takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
12. Contact
Privacy questions, access, deletion, correction or opt-out requests: guichenli86@gmail.com. No phone number is required — email is enough.
